Valheim leaves Early Access: 1.0 "Deep North" is here
Valheim left Early Access on September 9, 2026 with its 1.0 “Deep North” release, completing the main progression with the final biome and its Forsaken, Kall Fimbulbringer.
1.0 is not only an endgame update — several systems change a fresh playthrough from the Meadows onward:
- Idols & the Forge of Potential — 16 Idols across eight material tiers appear in world containers from the very first biome; the Forge in the Mountains can push gear past its normal ceiling (at the risk of destroying the item).
- Permanent inventory expansion — Haldor now sells two upgrades that add 16 slots in total.
- The Grappling Hook — unlocked in the Mistlands, and essential for the Deep North’s vertical structures.
- The Deep North itself — Winding Tunnels, Frostcore and Bloodgold crafting, the full Nord gear family, tameable Moose, Mörkhalla, Jotun Invasions, and the road to Kall.
- Alternate biome variants at the world’s edges, new world events, and a full achievement layer.
A fresh world is recommended for the intended 1.0 experience — existing worlds keep their already explored terrain and will not regenerate the new locations.
We have the whole run mapped: our Valheim 1.0 progression route takes a fresh world from your first stone axe to Kall Fimbulbringer and 100% completion — 146 steps across every biome, ordered so your gear, food and Idols stay ahead of the content, verified in-game.
