Final Fantasy XI unlocks

The August 12 update's main permanent addition — no new story chapter or mission chain this time. Defeating one of the new NMs spawns a locked treasure box that despawns after only 3 Earth minutes, so decide who is opening it before you pull. Square Enix's wording: any party or alliance member who earned experience from the kill can open the box without an item, provided they have not left the zone. Everyone else needs an Orvail Box Key. The NMs are repeatable — the tickable state here is your first kill and first drops.

• Find and defeat the new Adoulin notorious monsters

Several were added across the Seekers of Adoulin regions. Be ready to open the box immediately — 3 Earth minutes is not long enough to organise after the fact

  Reward New NM drops
• 1 per hourSet up Shabi as your Orvail Box Key source

Shabi is in Western Adoulin (I-9). You can buy only ONE Orvail Box Key per Earth hour, so stock up ahead of a farming session rather than when you need one

Reward Access to boxes from kills you did not participate in

⚠️ NOT YET CONFIRMED IN-GAME. Square Enix confirmed the event runs THREE SESSIONS IN TOTAL with the same weapons available each time, so missing one window is not final — only the Curator Moogle items differ between sessions. The FIRST session ran from August 22; the SECOND was announced on September 16. The clears and the weapons are deliberately NOT tickable steps here — they live on the event entry. What belongs on a checklist is the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, which are ordinary progression you can complete whether or not a session is live. The third requirement is the Shadow Lord phantom gem, which costs 10 Merit Points.

• Meet the Shadow Lord's Dominion entry requirements0 / 2

Both parts are normal progression and neither depends on the event being live

  • Reach level 95 or higher
  • Complete the Rank 5 Mission

Reward Eligibility to enter when the event opens
