What this guide is

AION 2's launch is a progression MMO with real daily, weekly and seasonal resets layered over a long permanent-progression spine. This route is that spine: the order to do things in from character creation to the level 45 cap and on into the endgame, so you are not grinding content that no longer upgrades you.

The single most important habit it encodes: permanent power outweighs temporary leveling gear. AION 2 spreads your strength across Daevanion, Stigma, Mastery, Runes, Arcana, Wings, accessories and pets — not one Item Level number. Replacing one armour piece is not finishing your build, and dumping Enhancement Stones into gear the campaign is about to replace is the classic launch mistake.

It is a high-level overview, not a quest-by-quest walkthrough. Each stage is a milestone with a few objectives; the exhaustive permanent-systems list is on the Unlocks page, and the recurring chores are on the Checklist.

Faction (Elyos or Asmodian) changes your story, starting regions, capital and Abyss side, but the core PvE progression is comparable either way. Pick the side you want to fight for.

Wording used in the steps

Shorthand in the step text, not tags.

Permanent power > gear scoreAION 2 power is spread across Daevanion, Stigma, Mastery, Runes, Arcana, Wings and more, not one Item Level. Do not leave large pools of permanent-progression points unspent while chasing visible gear score.
Charge systems bankNightmare, Transcendence, Shugo Festa and world events accumulate charges to a cap and then stop. Spend before they overflow; otherwise they wait for you, so they do not demand a daily login.
Odyle EnergyBoss chests can consume Odyle Energy. Spend it only on loot pools that still upgrade you, not on obsolete gear or low-value gambling.
Ascension Trial timingSave Ascension Trial for late in the week. Its achievable tier rises with your Item Level, so gearing first and running it near reset reaches a higher tier.

01 — Leveling to the level 45 cap10
Stage 1 — Awaken in Atreia0 / 2

Do not overfarm leveling gear. The Main Story is your progression spine.

  • Choose your faction (Elyos or Asmodian) and your launch class
Eight launch classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Chanter, Cleric, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster. Faction sets your story, starting regions, capital and Abyss side
  • Follow the Main Story and learn dodge and aerial movement
The Main Story is the spine; learn to dodge/avoid and move in the air early, as combat opens up later
Stage 2 — Learn your class0 / 2

Don't judge a class on its early leveling rotation — builds get far more complete once Mastery, Stigma and permanent systems stack.

  • Unlock wings, teleport points and your pet
Core convenience unlocks that come as you progress the early campaign
  • Begin Daevanion, and develop your skills, Mastery and Stigma
Start Daevanion progression when it is introduced, and build out your main skills, Mastery and Stigma setup
Stage 3 — Begin Awakening0 / 1

Awakening is a major progression gate — do not rush the Main Story so hard that Awakening falls far behind.

  • Fill your Guardian/Awakening Gauge and clear the Awakening challenge
The gauge advances through Main Story, regional quests, Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons; at 100% the next Awakening challenge opens, unlocking the next stage
Stage 4 — Complete regional progression0 / 1

Permanent regional objectives are far more valuable long-term than farming random leveling equipment.

  • Clear permanent regional objectives along your route
Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, regional quests, Empyrean/divine traces, Feathers and Monolith progress as you pass through Verteron / Altgard and beyond
Stage 5 — Unlock Daevanion0 / 1

Don't leave large numbers of unspent permanent-progression points while focusing only on gear score.

  • Unlock Daevanion, claim your points and spend them deliberately
Daevanion Points come from achievements, quests, exploration and progression. Prioritise useful combat stats before luxury nodes
Stage 6 — Reach level 300 / 1

Priority order while leveling: Main Story → Awakening → permanent regional unlocks → temporary farming last.

  • Keep the campaign moving to level 30
Continue the Main Story, keep Awakening on pace, and take permanent regional unlocks over temporary gear
Stage 7 — Prepare for the level cap0 / 1

Save Odyle/Odyle Energy and upgrade materials, and avoid heavily investing in gear you are about to replace.

  • Turn your story character into an endgame-ready main
Finish valuable regional quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, improve your Stigma setup, collect Feathers, and accumulate upgrade materials
Stage 8 — Reach level 450 / 1

The level 45 cap is the major Global launch milestone — shift from XP progression to character-power progression.

  • launch capReach the level 45 cap
The launch cap. From here, stop chasing XP and start building permanent character power
02 — Your first endgame6
Stage 9 — Finish permanent world power0 / 1

Do this BEFORE farming dungeons endlessly — it is the highest-value use of your first hours at cap.

  • Close out permanent world progression
Finish the Main Story and Awakening, clear missing Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds, collect traces and Feathers, spend accumulated Daevanion Points, set your Stigma loadout and equip Runes
Stage 10 — Build your first endgame set0 / 1

Power is distributed across weapon, armour, accessories, Enhancement, Breakthrough, Soul Imprint, Manastones, Runes, Stigma, Mastery, Daevanion, wings and more — one armour piece is not a finished build.

  • Assemble and enhance your first level-cap set
Upgrade your weapon and primary armour, improve accessories, apply useful Manastones, and Soul Imprint only gear worth keeping
Stage 11 — Master Nightmare0 / 1

Consistent clears beat failing a difficulty you only technically meet.

  • Clear Nightmare consistently and push difficulty as you gear
Nightmare is your repeatable solo-boss progression (2 charges/day). Spend entries before they overflow and raise difficulty as your character improves
Stage 12 — Begin Expeditions0 / 1

Group PvE for up to five. Start at the difficulty you clear reliably, then progress Exploration → Conquest → harder modes.

  • Start the launch Expeditions
Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir. Fire Temple and Draupnir are the important launch-era milestones; spend Odyle Energy only on loot that still upgrades you
Stage 13 — Unlock Transcendence0 / 1

Charge-based — spend before the cap. Its long-term value is tied to Arcana.

  • Unlock Transcendence and farm Arcana progression
Learn the encounters, spend charges before they cap, and push harder reward tiers as your Item Level rises
Stage 14 — Develop Arcana0 / 1

Don't ignore Arcana just because gear gives faster visible Item Level — long-term power comes largely from systems outside your armour slots.

  • Collect and level your Arcana
Unlock Arcana, level the important ones, improve rarity and target class-relevant bonuses, replacing low-value pieces over time
03 — Advanced endgame6
Stage 15 — Enter the Abyss0 / 1

The faction PvPvE environment — Elyos vs Asmodian, Abyss Points, commanders, bosses and weekly limits.

  • Unlock the Abyss and complete its weekly objectives
Learn safe routes, complete PvE Abyss objectives, earn Abyss Points and buy useful PvP/progression rewards
Stage 16 — Master your weekly challenges0 / 1

This is where the weekly loop on the Checklist takes over as the backbone of progression.

  • Settle into the weekly loop
Your free Daily Dungeon entries (a weekly allowance), Command Missions, Expedition rewards and the Ascension Trial near reset, plus weekly Abyss, PvP and Season missions
Stage 17 — Begin raid progression0 / 1

Prepare a reliable build, correct Stigma setup, consumables and adequate Item Level before you walk in.

  • when availableBegin Sanctuary / raid progression when it unlocks
Learn the boss mechanics, clear the weekly reward boss and farm specialised equipment for later difficulties
Stage 18 — Optimize Unique gear0 / 1

Unique and higher-grade gear is where the deeper upgrade systems pay off.

  • Farm and optimise Unique equipment
Enhancement, then Breakthrough, then Soul Imprint, then Manastones — in that order of long-term value
Stage 19 — Finish permanent character systems0 / 1

The long tail: optimising every permanent system rather than unlocking new content.

  • Complete every permanent character system
Daevanion, Stigma, Mastery, Runes, Arcana, wings, accessories and pets — plus wings, Feathers, Amulet, Brooch, Seal and important titles
Stage 20 — Current endgame0 / 1

From here, progression is optimisation and the seasonal loop, not new unlocks.

  • Push the hardest available PvE/PvP and run the seasonal loop
Optimise every permanent system, push the hardest Expeditions, raids and PvP, and keep up with each Season's missions and rewards
